Memories on the Republican River Valley
The river is swelled this morning
the sun is poking through the trees
scattering light and casting the trees silhouette.
vegetables, fish lines and sweat.
You've been one of the best teachers
You've taught me to swim and fish
and not to mention, kept me out of debt.
I've picked vegetables on your river valley.
vegetables, fish lines and sweat.
On this river, I've read books, studied your many curves and plants.
Lost myself in the foliage
found some red hot ants.
"I think that wasn't foliage, I got an itch in my pants"
You've taught me a lot,
like the consequences of going onto someone else's property.
"Whoops, sorry Bob Burnet."
vegetables, fish lines and sweat
Floatin' down the rivers
so much fun to watch the scene.
Or wadin' through the thrushes
that are oh so green.
watch out when it gets wet,
vegetables, fish lines and sweat.
The mud will sink up your boots
and creep in between your toes,
better keep those weeds down
better keep a swingin' those hoes
Its not a very pleasant job but the pay is triple fold
a tan, learn another language and a substantial uphold.
This is my home and upbringing
what's taught me the most as yet
A floatin down the Republican
vegetables, fish lines and sweat.
